Medical Nutrition Therapy
Individuals with a variety of conditions and illnesses can improve their health and quality of life by receiving a physician’s referral for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). During an MNT intervention, Registered Dietitians formally counsel clients on dietary habits as they relate to a specific disease or medical condition. Some of the issues that merit Medical Nutrition Therapy include:
• Cardiovascular Diseases: hypertension, dyslipidemia, congestive heart failure
• Diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, Gestational
• Disease Prevention: general wellness
• GI Disorders: celiac disease, cirrhosis, Crohn’s disease

• Nutritional Support: oral, enteral, parenteral
• Pediatrics: infant/child feeding, failure-to-thrive, inborn errors of metabolism

• Renal Disease: insufficiency, chronic failure, transplantation
