What is your official Title?

Judi Schuettpelz, LPN
Johnson Creek Clinic

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Watertown Regional Medical Center - Johnson Creek Clinic

How long have you been at Watertown Regional Medical Center? Have you always been in the same position?
I am going on my 14th year working at Watertown Regional Medical Center. I graduated in 1985 and lived up in Green Bay for a long time and relocated here with my husband.  I have always been an LPN but I spent 8-9 years at the former Ixonia location and then split my time at the Johnson Creek & Lake Mills clinic. I have now been at the Johnson Creek Clinic exclusively for 3 years.

What do you enjoy most about working at Watertown Regional Medical Center?
I love my patients, they are my top priority and what keep me coming back every day. I am such a people person and I enjoy getting them better and watching them grow. It’s awesome. I’ve had patients that were babies and are now teenagers. I love when I see them succeding. I also can't forget to mention the love I have for my co-workers.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I knew since I was very young that I wanted to be a nurse. I started as a nurses aid and then I went back to school to become an LPN. It helps that I enjoy learning and gaining more knowledge, as it helps me treat my patients better.

What would you say to somebody wanting to get into your profession?
If you’re looking to get into a profession that can bring you satisfaction, this is it. It takes dedication, caring and and if you don't have empathy you're not going to make it. You need to be able to put a smile on your face no matter what the circumstance is.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
We have a walking trail right by our house so we enjoy doing that. We also love camping, going out to eat and traveling (we went to Jamaica last December). This year, with the pandemic taking away our ability to travel, we decided to make our backyard our own little vacation area. It is a comforting oasis complete with a hot tub, pergola and beautiful landscaping.

What are your favorite place in the Watertown area?

What are you doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?
I have started to order my groceries online and do curbside pick-up, it's really handy! We love to go out to eat but instead of going into our favorite restauruants, we continue to support them by ordering take-out. We also have been watching church online. If I do have to go out, I won’t go anywhere without a mask and washing my hands frequently.
