Watertown Regional Medical Center Named to Becker’s 2025 Listing of Great Community Hospitals
WATERTOWN, Wisconsin - Watertown Regional Medical Center (Watertown or WRMC) is one of 100 hospitals included in the 2025 Becker’s Hospital Review (Becker’s) listing of “Great community hospitals”. Watertown was one of only two hospitals from the state of Wisconsin to make the list. This is the third consecutive year that Becker’s included WRMC in its listing.
Community hospitals recognized, per Becker’s, are “dedicated to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and personalized, whole-person care delivery. Their mission is to elevate health outcomes within the communities they serve.”
“It’s an honor to be included in Becker’s list of great community hospitals,” said Richard Keddington, CEO of Watertown Regional Medical Center. “This recognition is really about the incredible work our team does each day to care for the friends, neighbors, and families we serve in Dodge and Jefferson Counties. Accolades such as this from Becker’s validates the work they do every day.”
Becker’s editorial team selected the 100 hospitals for inclusion based on their nominations and the insights from respected rankings and ratings organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS, The Leapfrog Group, the National Rural Health Association, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
In its announcement of the hospitals included in the list, Becker’s espoused the value of community hospitals, noting that “Community hospitals play a vital role in the fabric of the U.S. healthcare system, delivering accessible, affordable care to patients beyond major metropolitan areas. Whether serving rural regions or suburban neighborhoods, these hospitals are essential to keeping communities healthy and connected to quality care.”
Watertown has a legacy of expanding quality care access to those it serves throughout Southern Wisconsin. As examples:
- in 2024, the hospital brought expanded Orthopedic services to the area;
- in 2023, Watertown opened its newly renovated cardiac catheterization lab, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology;
- in 2022, it began offering the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution, the latest advancement that helps orthopedic surgeons perform knee replacement surgery tailored to each patient and their quick recovery; and
- also in 2022, Watertown added eICU technology, which allows critical care doctors to video chat with patients, family, nurses, and fellow doctors, giving them secure access to assist in the care of critically ill patients.
The hospital’s exceptional quality has earned recognition beyond the Becker’s listings. This May, Watertown earned the prestigious “A” grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, its eighth top mark in the past 11 Leapfrog ratings. It was also one of only two ScionHealth community hospitals to earn the Platinum Award, the highest honor of the parent company’s National Quality Strategy.
Watertown Regional is also a past recipient of Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award™ and Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ and has been included in Chartis’ Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals listing.
“It’s our privilege to care for the patients who choose Watertown Regional,” said Keddington. “The support we receive from the community drives our success, and with that privilege comes the responsibility to always provide safe, high-quality care for the people of Watertown and the surrounding communities.”
