Vein Treatment

Some Vein Issues Can Be Debilitating
That’s why we’re here.

Vein treatment at Watertown Regional Medical Center is designed to improve the quality of life and deliver relief from debilitating symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).

CVI is the improper functioning of valves in the leg veins that causes blood to pool and leads to high pressure in those veins. Symptoms can be progressive and may lead to an impairment in your quality of life, and have the potential for serious complications.

CVI Symptoms

  • Aching
  • Cellulitis
  • Cramping
  • Heaviness
  • Leg fatigue (worsens when standing or sitting for long periods)
  • Non-healing wounds
  • Pain
  • Painful superficial blood clots
  • Skin changes (discoloration, dermatitis)
  • Spontaneous bleeding from veins or painful blood clots (thrombophlebitis)
  • Swelling

Our Solutions

Options for treatment are dependent on individual anatomy, insurance coverage, and symptoms. Treatment options available at Watertown Regional Medical Center are as follows:

  • Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation
  • Medical Adhesive Ablation using Cyanoacrylate (VenaSeal™)
  • Microfoam Sclerotherapy Ablation using Varithena®
  • Ambulatory Microphlebectomy
  • Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

What's the Process?

  1. The patient will be referred to the vein clinic and/or will self-refer. (Referrals are not needed unless required by your insurance carrier.)
  2. Watertown Regional Medical Center will set up an initial consultation and obtain an ultrasound for baseline imaging.
  3. The patient will meet with the provider to go through symptoms and ultrasound results, and discuss potential recommended procedures.
  4. The procedure will be scheduled and performed. (Most insurances will require a waiting period prior to approving the procedure. This will all be explained during the initial consult.)

Please note. Watertown Regional Medical Center does not offer cosmetic (spider vein) treatment.
