Senior Behavioral Health Unit Open House

July 31, 2018

Watertown Regional Medical Center is hosting an open house to celebrate the opening of their Senior Behavioral Health Unit on Tuesday, August 14th from 3pm-5pm.  Attendees should meet in the main lobby at Watertown Regional Medical Center, 125 Hospital Drive.

The new, 15-bed Senior Behavioral Health Unit is designed specifically for patients ages 65 and older and offers short-stays (10-12 days) for those experiencing a variety of mental health issues such as severe depression, bipolar disorder and acute psychosis.  The unit is staffed by a mental health team that includes a psychiatrist, social worker, psychiatric nurses, recreational therapist and counselors.   Patients will also have seamless access to outpatient services offered at the Directions Counseling Center.

The ultimate goal is to develop discharge plans that optimize the patient’s ability to remain as independent as possible. The unit will create an environment of recovery and resilience, emphasizing the importance of mental health and general medical care as the key to overall wellness.
